For more than 80 years, Jeppesen has made it possible for pilots and their passengers to safely and efficiently reach their destinations. Today, this pioneering spirit continues as Jeppesen delivers transformative information and optimization solutions to improve the efficiency of air operations around the globe. Jeppesen is a Boeing subsidiary and part of the Digital Aviation business unit within Boeing Commercial Aviation Services. Boeing offers the industry’s largest portfolio of support and services solutions, providing customers a competitive advantage by solving real operational problems, enabling better decisions, maximizing efficiency and improving environmental performance – intelligent information solutions across the entire aviation ecosystem.

At the core of Jeppesen’s operations is the development of quality data. Spanning the aviation industry, from the excursions of private pilots, to business jet operations, military missions, to daily airline flights, a necessity for flying is ensuring the use of reliable and current navigation information. Whether a pilot uses the traditional paper chart, or has adopted the latest digital technology in the cockpit or flight deck, quality data is essential for success.

Serving general, business, military and commercial aviation operators, Jeppesen has established practices developed over decades to provide pilots with the most comprehensive navigational information available. Taking in raw, or “source” data collected from the world’s more than 220 Air Navigation Service Providers, Jeppesen refines and synthesizes the widely varying forms of critical data into a singular format.

With hundreds of thousands of changes made on a continual basis across the global airspace system, Jeppesen gathers new and changed navigational information, then processes and houses it in the proprietary Jeppesen Aviation Database. This database contains more than one million records, and employs multiple stages to assure quality. Jeppesen flight information analysts edit and verify thousands of database transactions during each International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) 28-day revision cycle. This data can then be outputted as paper or electronic charts, or as data for use in flight planning systems, airborne navigational databases, or flight simulators.

Through stringent quality control standards, multiple-stage data editing and delivery in a standard format, Jeppesen charts, navigation data and other flight information are an essential tool used by pilots around the world to reach their destinations safely and efficiently.
