Business Jet Center adds large hangar at Oakland International

Business Jet Center (BJC), a leading provider of FBO services, has added one of the largest hangars in the Bay Area to its Oakland International Airport (OAK) leasehold in California, USA.

The 61,505ft2 structure, which previously served as a cargo handling facility, is undergoing a US$5 million renovation and will bring Business Jet Center’s total designated business and general aviation hangar space at OAK to more than 155,000ft2. The hangar features 28ft tall doors which can accommodate multiple large aircraft including the Gulfstream 650.

In addition, BJC recently completed a US$250,000 renovation of a 14,500ft2 business aviation hangar at OAK including new hangar floor coating, office upgrades, and new executive kitchen facilities.

“Demand for hangar space at our facility continues to outpace capacity,” said David Mills, general manager of BJC at OAK. “In developing our masterplan, we wanted to increase our available square footage to not only meet our present customers’ needs, but also be in position to accommodate future requests.”

Business Jet Center OAK opened for business in the fall of 2003 and completed a US$4 million renovation of the airport’s 8,449ft2 original 1920’s executive terminal building.
