Gulfstream Aerospace celebrates flight test program milestone

Gulfstream Aerospace has reflected on the first ten flight tests for the Gulfstream G500 and Gulfstream G600 jets. The jets are twin-engine, with the G500 replacing the G450. The G500 has a range of 5,000 nautical miles (9,260km) at Mach 0.85, with nonstop flights connecting distant cities such as Istanbul to Cape Town, Los Angeles to London, and San Francisco to Tokyo. The G600 can fly 4,800 nautical miles (8,890km) at a high-speed cruise of Mach 0.90, and seats up to 19 passengers, with room for nine to sleep.

Eviation Aircraft debuts all-electric jet prototype 'Alice'

Eviation Aircraft, a global manufacturer of electric air mobility solutions, has unveiled the prototype of its all-electric light aircraft called Alice.

Requiring no new certification, the aircraft can fly up to nine passengers and two crew members across distances of up to 600 miles. Eviation’s approach was to create a jet that was fully-electric from the outset, and this approach has led to a re-envisioning of core component designs including the airframe, propeller and motor, placing an emphasis on maximizing flight efficiency and energy usage.

The jet’s IP portfolio includes thermal management and autonomous landing, and Eviation faces no regulatory hurdles as it is compliant with today's certification requirements. The company is already in talks with a number of regional flight operators.

Omer Bar-Yohay, CEO of Eviation Aircraft, said, "At a time when we are more connected than ever, our mobility options must adapt to reflect this new, efficient future. Whether it is a zero emissions, low-cost trip from Silicon Valley to San Diego, or Seoul to Beijing, our all-electric aircraft represents a chance for people to move with the speed and impact our global economy now demands."
