Tips for flying into LAX

Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) is one of the busiest commercial airports in the United States. In this short video from the FAA’s From the Flight Deck series, a specific runway incursion risk is highlighted involving aircraft exiting Runway 24R, especially via Taxiways V and W, where pilots may inadvertently cross the hold-short line for Runway 24L.

The video points out that there is no center taxiway between parallel runways 24R and 24L, which are closer together than many pilots might expect. It also underscores the importance of fully clearing Runway 24R when exiting.

The FAA’s From the Flight Deck video series uses cockpit-mounted cameras, along with diagrams and visual graphics, to clearly identify airport hot spots and other safety-sensitive areas. This particular video also covers recent taxiway changes at LAX and shares best practices to help pilots safely navigate the airfield.
