Excellent acquisition

How does it feel being appointed VP of business development at ExcelAire?

It’s wonderful to be joining this team. It is a great time at ExcelAire, with an exciting new leadership team in place and opportunities to grow the company significantly. I’m very eager to contribute to the continued success of the business.

What will you bring to the role and how will you use your previous experience?

I think it’s always good to bring a fresh set of eyes to any business. As a professional golfer I traveled extensively for over 10 years, and I think I have a pretty good feel for what the luxury traveler expects. I also have a background in digital technology and part of my role here will be to make sure we’re realizing the benefits of an effective digital marketing program.

What will your first task be?

My first focus will be on helping to grow the aircraft management business, and adding more jets under management to the firm. Aircraft acquisition is something that can really bolster our position in the charter business.

What attracted you to the company?

I like that ExcelAire, although based at Long Island MacArthur Airport (in New York, USA), is part the of Hawthorne Global Aviation group of companies, with a nationwide and international presence, and four FBOs nationwide. Between the two companies we have over 110 years of experience in the aviation business – that’s pretty impressive.

What are ExcelAire’s plans for future development?

We are always working on ways to improve our clients’ experience with us, whether it’s a charter client or a management client. In this field, you have to differentiate yourself from others.

What are the challenges facing the business aviation industry and how will you make sure ExcelAire addresses these?

Like a lot of businesses, we try and make as many decisions for our brand that will make us successful regardless of the market conditions. Easier said than done, but as long as you limit your exposure on things outside of your core competency, you can steady the ship through turbulent times.

How long have you been a professional golfer?

I turned professional in 2003 and played full time for about 10 years. I still play a few tournaments every year. I have some great friends out there and its always nice to rekindle those relationships, and bring the ExcelAire brand to that network.

What is your favorite course to play and why?

That’s a very tough question, there are so many wonderful golf courses out there. My top three (in no particular order) would have to be Pebble Beach, Cypress Point (both California) and Sands Point Golf Club (New York).
