World Fuel Services continues European growth

World Fuel Services (WFS) has expanded its on-the-ground operations in Europe, driving closer partnerships and extending work at existing bases.

The news follows the completed acquisition of ExxonMobil’s general aviation network earlier this year, which has led to WFS physically operating at an additional 80 airports, bringing the total to more than 100 worldwide.

In Europe, 22 airports were brought on board – six in the UK, three in France, six in Germany and seven in Italy. WFS now operates out of 46 airports across the continent.

Mark Amor, vice president at World Fuel Services, said, “Regional commercial and business aviation airports and fixed base operators (FBOs) in particular are looking for new models to support their diverse customer base and grow their business.

“Traditional fuel provision offerings and service approaches no longer work for a fast-evolving sector, which is why we are listening to customers and remodeling solutions with innovative technology and robust technical services that can meet the current and future challenges faced by the sector. We are committed to supporting the wider industry as a partner, not just another supplier.”

In the UK, WFS is now providing Liverpool John Lennon Airport with new operational support that has fixed a number of issues, and has been chosen as the fuel supplier to TAG Farnborough Airport. At other locations, WFS has expanded its operations with customer-centric solutions. At Southampton Airport, it has adapted its service model to speed up plane turnaround times, while at Birmingham Airport, WFS invested to support the construction of new fuel storage and supply facilities that will help the airport meet future growth needs.

In addition to significant expansion across the UK, WFS has the capacity to deliver flexible and tailored solutions to any customer type. This ability is evidenced by its work with the emergency services work of firefighters based at Nimes airport, providing much-needed, consistent support during the recent forest fires in the south of France and Corsica. In Germany, too, WFS has been supplying fuel and logistics services to life-saving medevac vehicles and personnel.
