AirX Aviation, an aircraft leasing company based in Malta, has made a number of big announcements ahead of its plans to launch in the USA. AirX America will operate from an office in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and feature several ex-Chapman Freeborn executives, including its founder Chris Chapman and former director Carol Norman, who will serve as brand ambassadors.

Darren Banham, who has been a leading broker for many years, has been appointed AirX America’s president. He will head up the company’s US operations, specializing in VIP transportation across North, Central and South America, cargo operations, and narrow- and wide-body aircraft tours.

As part of its strategy, AirX has purchased stakes in Via Airlines, based in Beckley, West Virginia, and Elite Air, based in St Petersburg, Florida. Via operates six Embraer 145s, and Elite Air offers a variety of Citation, Challenger and Gulfstream aircraft. AirX is looking to expand the fleets of both to help it become a major player in the US charter market.

John B Matthews, chairman of AirX, said, “We are going to bring the AirX quality of operation over to the USA. There is an opportunity for AirX to bring a high level of customer service, reliability and quality.”
