TAG Farnborough Airport achieves international environment standard

TAG Farnborough Airport has been certified to the internationally recognized ISO 14001 standard for its commitment to environmental management. ISO 14001 is an international standard that sets out requirements for an effective environment management system and is designed to help businesses, including airports, evaluate and reduce the environmental impact of their operations.

Miles Thomas and Holly Reeves from the airport’s Environment Management team were presented with the certificate by Allyson Lewis and Luke Lambourne from SGS, an independent auditing body, on November 13, 2015.

“Developing the airport responsibly has always been important to us. We are pleased to have achieved this internationally recognized certification for the environment management system we have developed and implemented,” said Miles Thomas, environment manager at TAG Farnborough Airport.

“This accomplishment demonstrates that managing environmental issues is an integral part of our business operation. We are committed to working with our staff, tenants, suppliers and the local community with a view to continually improve environmental performance at TAG Farnborough Airport,” he added.

The airport has introduced a number of environmental initiatives such as improving energy efficiency through investment in lighting and renewable technology, minimizing waste to landfill, managing noise in the community, and further reducing CO2 emissions through sustainable staff commuting.

“We are delighted to award the ISO 14001 standard to TAG Farnborough Airport,” said Allyson Lewis, South East regional manager at SGS UK. “Throughout the process, they have dedicated themselves fantastically and, with their continuous improvement plans now in place, we expect this to act as a strong foundation moving forward.”
