Universal Aviation London-Stansted has achieved IS-BAH Stage 3 accreditation, the highest level of safety certification for business aircraft ground handling.

The International Standard for Business Aircraft Handling Stage 3 status places the facility among fewer than 10% of IS-BAH-registered ground handlers worldwide. Universal Aviation UK first earned Stage 1 certification in 2017, followed by Stage 2 in 2021.

According to the company, the accreditation reflects continuous improvement in safety management systems and operational procedures. The IS-BAH standard incorporates safety management system requirements and follows the structure of the International Standard for Business Aircraft Operations program.

“Since we began our IS-BAH journey in 2017, our focus has always been on building a culture of continuous improvement,” said Sean Raftery, managing director of Universal Aviation UK. “Earning Stage 3 accreditation is a reflection of the high standards our team holds itself to every day.”

The IS-BAH program establishes global industry best practices for business aviation ground handlers through comprehensive safety management system implementation. The standard incorporates the NATA Safety 1st Ground Audit Program requirements.

Ground handling operations covered under IS-BAH include aircraft servicing, passenger handling, cargo operations and ramp safety procedures. The certification process requires demonstration of safety management system effectiveness and continuous improvement processes.

Universal Aviation operates the London-Stansted facility as part of its global ground services network covering more than 70 locations across 25 countries. The company provides ground handling, fuel services and logistics support for business aviation operators.

IS-BAH accreditation addresses International Civil Aviation Organization requirements for safety management systems in ground handling operations. The standard enables handlers and operators to meet evolving SMS requirements for international aviation operations.

Stage 3 represents the highest maturity level in IS-BAH certification, requiring demonstrated safety performance and management system effectiveness over multiple assessment cycles. The certification validates operational procedures, training programs and safety culture development.

Universal Aviation’s parent company Universal Weather and Aviation provides flight planning, ground services and logistics support for international business aviation operations. The company manages global trip operations for flight departments and aircraft operators worldwide.

The London-Stansted facility serves business aviation operations at one of the UK’s primary international airports. Ground handling services include aircraft marshalling, baggage handling, fueling coordination and passenger services for private and corporate aircraft.

IS-BAH certification requires regular audits and continuous monitoring of safety performance metrics. Stage 3 status demonstrates sustained commitment to safety management system implementation and operational excellence in ground handling operations.
