Bombardier has announced its Global 7500 business jet has achieved 135 speed records, the most ever set by a single business aircraft type. The aircraft has established records on routes including Tokyo to San Francisco, London to Riyadh, Oakland to Tokyo, Hartford to Dubai, Tokyo to Toronto and Montreal to Paris.
The Global 7500 previously set the longest flight recorded in business aviation with an 8,225 nautical mile (15,233km) journey from Sydney to Detroit. The aircraft also completed the industry’s longest range non-stop mission from London City Airport to Los Angeles.
“This is recognition of what Bombardier’s customers need: a reliable, fast, efficient business tool that gets them to destination quickly,” said Jean-Christophe Gallagher, executive vice president for aircraft sales and Bombardier Defense. “Some of these records have been set with passengers on board in varying conditions and airports.”
According to Bombardier, the Global 7500 has a top speed of Mach 0.925 and baseline range of 7,700 nautical miles (14,260km). The aircraft features the Smooth Flex Wing system, which incorporates a slats and flap configuration designed to generate lift on takeoff and approach while maximizing aerodynamic efficiency.
The wing system functions as an airborne shock absorber, reducing fuel burn and emissions while delivering short-field and high-speed performance capabilities. The design produces what Bombardier describes as the industry’s smoothest ride quality.
The company plans to enhance the Global 7500’s capabilities with the introduction of the Global 8000 aircraft. The new flagship model will feature a range of 8,000 nautical miles (14,816km) and top speed of Mach 0.94. The cabin altitude will remain below 2,900ft (884m) when flying at 41,000ft (12.5km).
The Global 8000 will deliver runway performance comparable to light jets while providing access to smaller airports that other aircraft in its category cannot reach. The design incorporates engineering solutions that enable operation from restricted runway environments.
The Global 7500 entered service in 2018 and competes in the ultra-long-range business jet category. The aircraft accommodates up to 19 passengers depending on configuration and features a four-zone cabin layout with full-size galley and crew rest area.
Bombardier continues expanding the Global family’s operational envelope through flight testing and certification programs. The company maintains production facilities in Toronto, Canada, and expects delivery schedules to meet current market demand for large-cabin business aircraft.
