Bombardier has announced that the Global 8000, its flagship ultra-long-range business jet, will now reach a top speed of Mach 0.95 (1,127km/h or 700mph), setting a new benchmark for civil aviation performance. The update was revealed during the 2025 NBAA Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition (NBAA-BACE) in Las Vegas.
“The Global 8000 was already the fastest business aircraft ever built, and with this new speed capability, this incredible aircraft is set to redefine the ultra-long-range market,” said Stephen McCullough, senior vice president, engineering and product development at Bombardier. “This achievement underscores the contributions of our design, flight test and production teams and their commitment to pushing the boundaries.”
Éric Martel, president and CEO at Bombardier, added, “With our Global 8000, our customers will now be able to reach their destinations even faster, arriving refreshed and ready to carry out their missions.”
The Global 8000 combines high-speed performance with runway agility. According to Bombardier, its wing design with leading-edge slats allows access to up to 30% more airports than comparable aircraft while maintaining class-leading take-off and landing performance similar to that of a light jet.
Inside, the aircraft features four living spaces, a separate crew rest area and the longest seated length in its category. The cabin is designed for comfort and efficiency, with an ultra-low cabin altitude intended to reduce fatigue on long flights.
Bombardier has positioned the Global 8000 as the pinnacle of its Global family, combining speed, range and cabin innovation to deliver what it calls “the fastest time machine in the skies.” Entry into service is anticipated soon following completion of its final development phase.
