Aviation training company CAE has officially inaugurated its Vienna business aviation training center, the company’s first facility in Central Europe.
The 86,000-square-foot center has operated since April with simulators for Gulfstream G550, Bombardier Global 7500 and Global 6000 aircraft. An Embraer Phenom 100/300 full-flight simulator operates through the Embraer CAE Training Services joint venture.
A fifth simulator for Bombardier Challenger 3500 will begin training operations in October. According to CAE, a sixth simulator for Pilatus PC-24 will be deployed in the second half of 2026.
The facility addresses training capacity requirements for European business aviation operations. CAE forecasts the European business aviation industry will require 7,000 new pilots and 9,000 new maintenance technicians over the next 10 years.
“The inauguration of CAE Vienna adds training capacity in the region and makes training programs more accessible for our customers,” said Alexandre Prévost, division president of business aviation at CAE. According to the company, the facility can train thousands of aviation professionals annually.
The Vienna location provides simulator training for multiple aircraft types used in European business aviation operations. Full-flight simulators enable type rating training and recurrent training for pilots operating these aircraft.
Wolfgang Hattmannsdorfer, federal minister for economy, energy and tourism, attended the inauguration ceremony. The minister stated that the facility strengthens Austria’s position as a hub for aviation business and innovation.
The training center represents CAE’s expansion into the Central European market for business aviation training services. Like CAE facilities in Burgess Hill, UK, and Dubai, the Vienna center offers classroom and simulator training for type ratings and recurrent training.
CAE Vienna provides maintenance technician training including type training, engine run and taxi courses, and technical training covering avionics systems. The center also offers professional development courses for maintenance personnel.
CAE operates business aviation training centers globally, providing pilot training, maintenance training and cabin crew training services. The company serves aircraft operators, flight training organizations and individual pilots.
Simulator-based training addresses regulatory requirements for pilot certification and recurrent training in business aviation. Type rating training enables pilots to operate specific aircraft models through comprehensive simulator programs.
The Vienna facility includes classrooms, briefing rooms and simulator bays designed for pilot training operations. The center’s capacity supports increased training demand from European business aviation growth.
Business aviation training requirements include initial type ratings, recurrent training and differences training for aircraft variants. Simulator training provides cost-effective alternatives to aircraft-based training for many requirements.
The facility’s aircraft type selection addresses popular business aviation platforms in the European market. Training availability in Central Europe reduces travel requirements for operators based in the region.
