Gogo has received FAA supplemental type certificate (STC) approval for the installation of its Galileo HDX connectivity system on Gulfstream G650 and G650ER aircraft, with the certification issued through Gulfstream Aerospace.
The Galileo HDX is an electronically steered antenna powered by Eutelsat’s OneWeb low-earth orbit (LEO) network, providing high-speed, low-latency connectivity including video conferencing, streaming and internet browsing from multiple devices simultaneously. The system is installed under the radome in a tail-mounted configuration, which Gogo said minimizes downtime and is backwards compatible with existing network equipment.
“The addition of Gogo Galileo HDX as an aftermarket option for the G650 and G650ER reflects the growing demand for high-speed connectivity and provides operators with the latest technology in business aviation,” said Chris Moore, CEO of Gogo.
The G650/G650ER STC adds to Gogo’s expanding Galileo certification program, which now covers 35 STCs across 34 aircraft types, with approximately 20 more expected by summer.
