Air bp is celebrating its centenary, having supplied aviation fuel since 1926 when the company pioneered into-plane refueling services.
The bp aviation division now operates at more than 600 airports across 40 countries and fuels over 6,800 flights per day. Its fuel volumes have grown from 2,582 gallons in its second year of operations to approximately 6.6 billion gallons annually.
Over the past century, Air bp has contributed to the development of mobile refueling units, supported early long-distance flights in the 1930s and helped establish industry-wide safety standards for fuel handling. More recently, the company supplied fuel for the first 100% sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) transatlantic commercial flight.
“Air bp has helped shape the way the world flies, from pioneering into-plane fuelling in 1926 to supporting the aviation industry through every major transformation since,” said Federica Berra, CEO of Air bp. “As we enter our second century, our focus remains the same: delivering the reliability, safety and lower-carbon solutions our customers and the industry needs for its next chapter.”
Air bp’s customers include commercial airlines, military operators, business and private aircraft owners, airports and airfield operators.
