Lithuanian ACMI and charter operator KlasJet has received FAA Part 129 operations specifications approval, clearing the way for it to operate charter and ACMI services to, from and through the United States with its Boeing 737NG fleet.
The FAA approval was the final regulatory step, with Department of Transportation, TSA, CBP and other relevant approvals already in place.
“KlasJet is now ready to operate to and from the US,” said Diako Rad, director of flight operations at KlasJet. “Previously, when a carrier asked whether we could operate in the US, the answer was that we were working towards it. Today, the answer is yes. And this change is very important in ACMI and charter operations, because situations can move very quickly.”
Rad said the company sees strong potential in the US market, where seasonal demand variations, capacity shortages, delayed aircraft deliveries and operational disruptions create regular need for flexible ACMI capacity. “Airlines can suddenly find themselves short of capacity. Instead of adding permanent aircraft and crews for what might be a temporary requirement, ACMI gives them immediate additional capacity,” he said.
KlasJet is part of Avia Solutions Group, which it described as the world’s largest ACMI provider. The company is based in Vilnius, Lithuania.
