London Cranfield Airport has joined The Collection, a network of business aviation airports across the UK and Ireland, under a new strategic partnership aimed at accelerating commercial growth at the Bedfordshire airfield.
The agreement sees the airport relaunch under its new commercial identity, London Cranfield Airport, and appoints the network’s operator as its exclusive strategic business aviation partner. As part of the arrangement, the airport will receive dedicated business development and charter sales support, strategic marketing activity and inclusion within the wider programme.
Situated in the heart of England with access to London, the Midlands and the Oxford-Cambridge Growth Corridor, Cranfield is positioned as an alternative to larger, congested airports for corporate aviation, aircraft management companies and private owners. The airport, which is owned by Cranfield University and has a 1,799m runway, benefits from remote customs and immigration arrangements for international arrivals.
Nick Weston, chief executive officer of Weston Aviation, said: “Cranfield has a rich aviation heritage, excellent infrastructure and enormous commercial potential. By combining our business development expertise with Cranfield’s vision, we are creating a partnership focused on long-term, sustainable growth.”
Robert Abbott, airport director at London Cranfield Airport, said: “This partnership provides us with the commercial expertise, market reach and collaborative approach needed to accelerate that ambition. We look forward to working closely with Weston Aviation to strengthen our presence within the UK and European business aviation markets.”
