The British Business and General Aviation Association (BBGA) has added a new Future Flight working group covering urban air mobility and regional air mobility, in response to growing interest from its membership.
The announcement was made at the association’s annual conference as BBGA marks its 50th anniversary. The group will be led by BBGA vice chair Alex Durand, CEO of SaxonAir, and will provide updates and recommendations on the emerging sector to the BBGA board.
The working group’s scope will include membership consultation on opportunities and challenges, outreach to regulators and government on new aircraft and technologies, and leveraging existing expertise across the association to support the integration of emerging technologies into the broader business aviation landscape.
The new group will complement BBGA’s existing working groups covering operations, flight operations, airworthiness, FBOs, sustainability, and membership and events. The association said Future Flight will have a touch point in each of those groups.
Durand said, “Moving into our sixth decade, we see advanced air mobility and clean technologies like eSAF advancing in the rear-view mirror. It’s therefore opportune to harness our accumulated knowledge and expertise and help this new sector flourish into the future with us.”
BBGA represents nearly 200 companies across the UK business aviation sector, including airports, corporate flight departments, operators, aviation services organisations and aircraft manufacturers.
