Modern Aviation commenced operations of the CLT Executive Terminal at Charlotte Douglas International Airport on July 1.

The facility marks the 19th fixed-base operator location in Modern Aviation’s network. The company offered positions to all existing terminal employees, with the majority accepting roles with the organization.

Modern Aviation plans to upgrade the CLT Executive Terminal with construction expected to begin in late 2025 or early 2026. The investment reflects the company’s commitment to enhance general aviation services at Charlotte Douglas International Airport.

“As we look to the future with Modern Aviation, we are excited to introduce a new era of private aviation in Charlotte – one driven by innovation, elevated service and a focus on exceeding the evolving needs of our customers,” said Ted Kaplan, chief business and innovation officer at Charlotte Douglas International Airport.

Mark Carmen, chief executive officer of Modern Aviation said,  “We are thrilled to expand our presence at Charlotte Douglas International Airport, a key general aviation hub in North America,” said Carmen.

Charlotte Douglas International Airport serves as a major hub for general aviation operations in the southeastern United States. The airport accommodates commercial and general aviation traffic in the Charlotte, North Carolina metropolitan area.

Modern Aviation operates 18 other fixed-base operator locations across the United States and Puerto Rico. Facilities include operations in New York, California, North Carolina, Colorado, Washington, Iowa, Maine, Connecticut, Vermont, Texas, and Puerto Rico.

The company’s network spans locations from Wilmington, North Carolina to Sacramento, California, including major metropolitan airports such as John F. Kennedy International Airport and LaGuardia Airport in New York. Additional facilities serve Des Moines, Denver, Seattle, Bar Harbor, Groton, Rutland, Fort Worth, and multiple locations in the New York area.

According to Modern Aviation, the Charlotte expansion aligns with growing demand for general aviation services in the region. The company focuses on safety culture integration and customer service enhancement across its network.

The CLT Executive Terminal provides fixed-base operator services including fuel, ground handling, and passenger amenities for general aviation aircraft. Modern Aviation’s operation continues existing services while planning facility improvements.
