Universal Aviation and AERODOM have opened an FBO terminal at Presidente Juan Bosch International Airport in Samaná, Dominican Republic.
The 300-square-metre (3,229-square-foot) facility was inaugurated on 2 December and becomes Universal Aviation’s third FBO in the country, joining locations at La Isabela International Airport in Santo Domingo and Gregorio Luperón International Airport in Puerto Plata.
The terminal features a private passenger lounge, main hall, panoramic terrace with coastal views, onsite immigration and customs, executive kitchen, crew spaces and administrative offices. The facility was designed by architect Rubén Merette and constructed by Abbot Puig.
AERODOM, part of the VINCI Airports network, operates Presidente Juan Bosch International Airport.
Universal Aviation entered the Dominican market in August 2016 and now operates at seven airports across the country.
“This project symbolizes confidence in Samaná’s potential as a new hub for executive aviation in the Caribbean,” said Danilo Rosario Jiménez, general director of Universal Aviation Dominican Republic.
Alexandra Malvezin, chief commercial officer of AERODOM, said the terminal strengthens Samaná’s tourism appeal and contributes to economic growth in the northeastern region.
The opening ceremony was attended by Igor Rodríguez, director general of the Dominican Institute of Civil Aviation, and Juan Bancalari, president of the National Hotel and Tourism Association.
