Hangar developer Blackbird Partners has announced plans for a development of eight individually owned private hangars at Spirit of St. Louis Airport (KSUS) in Missouri, with groundbreaking expected in early 2027.
The project spans 12.7 acres and will feature what the company calls “Nests,” concrete-built private hangars with integrated owner, lifestyle and crew spaces, sized to accommodate the largest business jets in production. Each unit is designed to be individually owned rather than leased, with features including offices, lounges, boardrooms, kitchens and crew rest areas.
Blackbird Partners was founded by former jet broker Carson Fox and real estate developer Ryan Bedford, and is based in Greenville, South Carolina. The company specializes in developing premium owner-occupied hangars at regional and international airports, with its first project at Waukesha, Wisconsin. The Spirit of St. Louis development is being designed by VJS Construction Services.
The development has the support of Spirit of St. Louis Airport leadership and St. Louis County.
